Provocation:

If we think of race in terms of the rubric of this roundtable (“thought worlds”), perhaps then there are two distinct objects of analysis. The first is histories/systems of racialization, of how racial subjects are made and unmade. What types of subjects does race make? The second is the thought world/episteme structured by the concept of race, race as mode of thought. What type of social difference is articulated by race– visible, categorical, xenophobic, the production of internal and external others? Is there racism before race? Is race a specter haunting formations of the human?
